Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Castle, mural paintings
Total decoration of the temple with Marian themes and patron saint festivities. A monumental work, the paintings that illustrate the entire interior constitute an impressive work in which the spectator is enveloped in symbolic compositions and enjoys a visual delight. The process is encaustic.
The Sanctuary houses the Cantoría (angels, musicians and singers) in the mural surrounding the Virgin's dressing room.
The set of paintings that decorate the sanctuary, consists of the following themes: The Betrothal, The Annunciation, The Visitation, The Nativity, The Presentation, The Crucifixion, The Pentecost, The Coronation of the Virgin, The Pieta and The Resurrection.
The work is complemented with six themes from the patron saint festivities of Yecla.
On the dome (before the chapel of the holy Reclining Christ), the themes of the eight Beatitudes are represented, and symbols of the four Evangelists at the base.
